Understanding Motorcycles is a passion that EBC Brakes is proud to have, the understanding between Motorcycle riders is unique and the EBC approach to producing brakes for Motorcycles is no less of a passion.
Being smaller in physical dimensions it is possible to produce Motorcycle brake pads using more expensive and exotic materials that price themselves out of the automotive market, giving our researchers more room for artistic license. The objective is to deliver the best without compromise on quality to our fellow motorcyclists.
Use our Motorcycle Product Search page to find and order the correct pads for your motorcycle, or Contact Us for further information and assistance.
X and XC rotors are the lightest rotors you can buy, they will eliminate all your vibration problems and last longer than conventional rotors using round button technology. Both designs further reduce weight by using only SIX DRIVE BUTTONS. This further reduces the unit weight by up to 300 grammes.
X rotors feature full circle, circular rotor blades, XC rotors feature a contoured lighter weight profile. Both rotors feature mill hard stainless steel high friction rotor blades for maximum brake effect and are direct size for size replacements for OEM rotors. Both designs are also TRUE fully floating units, offering more inside to outside float tolerance than any other rotor on the planet.
These new rotors feature EBC's unique and patented S-Drive button system which features square sided rivets captured in square drive pockets on the rotor and hub which allow the outer rotor blade to expand and contract freely under the heat of braking without suffering rivet lock.
The New EBC range of high lustre brake rotors, featuring stainless steel brake rotor rings/blades and a polished stainless steel centre hub. Newer units feature a contoured profile and slotted rotor profile which greatly improves pad break-in and reduces rotor damage (rotor galling). The reason we have opted for stainless steel centre hubs is due to the weight and heavy duty nature of larger American motorcycles often using twin cylinder technology which can lead to more vibration or frame shake.
Front applications: We now offer a range of 5 spoke solid brake rotors as shown above left (type 1) and a choice of 5 spoke floating rotors (type 2) in full circle rotor blade design or contoured profile blade design (type 3).
Rear applications: We now offer a choice of full circle profile (type 5) or contoured profile (type 4) and both units feature the sturdy 10 button EBC riveted system.
Rivets, washers and spring pressure washers plus both the hub and the rotor blade are stainless steel, no rusty rotors with EBC's new deluxe American motorcycle range.
Most models now feature NEW EBC PATENTED S-DRIVE SYSTEM
This extremely popular range of oversize rotors has become a worldwide number one seller. The optimum 280mm design gives a significant improvement to stopping power but also great modulational control without the risk of "grounding" on excessively over diameter units. The rotors are quick and easy to fit with beautifully crafted brackets made by Ted Devol in the United States, available for all recent modern Moto-X machines.
Optimum 250mm diameter and comes complete with relocation bracket. All rotors feature contoured profile as standard.
Made in the UK from laser cut stainless steel, the new lightweight CONTOURED profile ATV sport discs are a lighter weight unit than original parts and designed for sport and race use. All discs are precision ground and made to the exact same sizes as original parts as a direct bolt on replacement. To order this product select part number and add C suffix for contour.
All conventional floating brake rotors use a circular rivet to attach the rotor blade to the inner hub. The SD-System uses a square sided rivet with many advantages.
Under the heat of braking a rotor blade expands or shrinks in both its diameter and band width causing the inside of the rotor blade to shrink radially inwards towards the hub. With circular buttons, as the rotor shrinks, it will contact the inner button and cause the rotor to tighten and either be distorted sideways causing either brake pulsation or spongy brakes.
The SD-System of square sided buttons means that the rotor can expand inwards and outwards unrestrained and that perfect rotor functionality is retained at any speed or load. Not only does this extend the lifetime of the rotor and prevent distortion failures, it keeps the rotor blades perfectly true and flat throughout their life cycle and technically the only reason for a rotor to need replacement will be impact damage or over a VERY EXTENDED number of miles possible rotor wear limits being exceeded. This means that a rotor equipped with the EBC Brakes SD-System could last 5-10 times as long as a conventional rotor built with circular buttons.
A further advantage of the SD-System is that the drive forces under braking are transmitted over a LINE CONTACT on the square side of the button compared to the point contact of a circular button. Extended use with a circular button and its point contact will mean that the rotor could shake loose over a period of time in the drive direction. Slackness of the rotor blade relative to the inner hub is a major negative and can cause rotor "throw-out" and lead to severe vibrations at speed. The SD-System maintains close tolerances of the rotor in the drive direction over a far longer period thereby extending rotor life.
Europe's first and only ECE R90 approved pad. EBC Double-H pads are the "grippiest" street legal brake pads you can buy. These pads benefit from the highest friction HH rating for maximum stopping power, made from sintered copper alloy like original pads for longer life and perfect braking under all riding conditions, wet, dry, hot or cold. When required, unique stainless steel radiator plates are fitted to reduce heat transfer into bikes hydraulics. The unique double segment vented design keeps the pads cooler and prevents pad drag and overheat or fade.
Europe's first and only ECE R90 approved pad. These pads brake as well as sintered pads, as proved by R90 compliance. Made in our own factory in Bristol, England, the EBC Kevlar series has now been renamed NAO series or Non-Asbestos Organic, although we still use the famous Dupont Kevlar® fibre in conjunction with other high tech fibres that have come on the market. The NAO series are a superb all round value-for-money replacement for all levels of motorcycle and are still extremely popular with many riders who prefer the "feel" of organic pads. Most EBC organic pads have expansion grooves which reduce noise and prevent cracking. The aramid fibre compound with non-ferrous particles helps to prevent surface "scorching" under load.
For several years now this successful carbon graphite formula has been the choice of top Enduro and Moto-X riders for certain conditions around the world. The main advantage of this type of material is its lack of heat generation or conduction, which keeps both the rotor and calliper cool. Top Enduro and Hare Scrambles USA riders prefer this material for fast and dry riding conditions. The material is also very usable for standard sport ATV usage. Also TUV tested and KBA approved for street use on Enduro bikes. The TT series or X pads do not last as long as a sintered pad but are a strong favourite amongst Enduro riders due to their low heat transfer.
For the ultimate durability EBC presents it's "R" series high density series pads. A sintered copper material made in our own USA facility, the "R" series of heavy duty ATV and Moto-X pads have become an aftermarket standard offering high durability, high resistance to contamination by mud, water, sand and grit etc. offering reduced disc damage and long pad life.
EBC Brakes welcomes the new legislation on ECE R90 brake safety testing that shuts the door on unworthy parts. Until recently all EBC Brakes were tested by the notorious German TUV test centres and carried the KBA (German Motor Vehicle Organisation) certification number. EBC Brakes is pleased to announce that after extensive multi-model testing at the MIRA (Motor Industries Research Association) test track located at Nuneaton, UK, that both EBC Kevlar® organic pads and EBC Double-H sintered pads have been approved.
A general purpose glycol fluid with a wet boiling point of 260°C / 500°F. For most modern motorcycle and automotive brake systems. CANNOT be mixed with DOT-5 silicone fluids.
A highly refined DOT-4 based Glycol fluid that has less of a tendency to cause vapour lock. Please remember that once you open this container it will start to degrade so it is important to use it, seal your vehicles brake system and discard the remainder of the can due to shelf life issues. CANNOT be mixed with DOT-5 silicone fluids!
Unlike Glycol fluids, silicone does not damage or stain paintwork and is fitted to some high quality US built motorcycles. It is IMPERATIVE to check your owner’s manual and NOT to mix this fluid with Glycol fluids (as above) otherwise damage can occur to hydraulic seals and your entire brake system.
